Discovery Camp is Camp Fire North Shore's summer program option for youth entering the 5th and 6th grades. Discovery offers youth many different activities and time for individual choices on a daily basis. Discovery campers play an active role in the planning of the daily schedule, and age-appropriate team and skill building activities are organized by the Specialists according to the group's interests.
Camp Fire North Shore's Discovery Camp is a relaxed atmosphere in a natural environment that helps children develop skills to work within a group, make friends, build self-esteem, make good decisions and learn firsthand about the environment. Discovery takes full advantage of the 70+ acres of wooded trails behind the camp to learn and practice new outdoor skills such as hiking and trail laying, fire building, outdoor shelter construction, tree and plant identification, and orienteering. In addition to the schedule of daily activities, Discovery campers also have the opportunity to participate in long-term projects and to plan and implement their own Community Service Learning project. Discovery campers also participate in weekly off-site field trips. See a list of those field trips here.
Basic day camp hours are 9:00am - 4:00 pm.
Both pre-camp (7:00am - 9:00am) and post camp (4:00pm-5:30) extended hours are available for an additional cost.
